Viva Goals alternative: move your OKRs to Milestra
Microsoft retired Viva Goals on 31 December 2025. If your organisation ran its OKRs there, Milestra lets you bring objectives, key results and initiatives across in one import — with values, owners and deadlines intact.
Why teams are looking
- Microsoft announced in December 2024 that Viva Goals would be retired, with the service ending on 31 December 2025.
- Teams that relied on it need a new home for their objectives, key results, check-ins and history.
What Milestra does differently
- Progress backed by evidence — files, photos and links attached to key results and verified by managers.
- A one-minute weekly check-in for every owner, with confidence ratings, blockers and streaks.
- One calculated health score (on track, at risk, off track) shared by the dashboard, reports and the Monday digest.
- Donor and board reports: logframe levels, indicators with baselines and means of verification, and results by gender, age band or location.
- An alignment map from company to team to individual, plus 24 ready-made templates and an AI goal writer.
- CSV export of everything, a REST API and signed webhooks — your data stays yours.
Questions to ask any tool you evaluate
- Can you import your existing OKR export without retyping it?
- Does progress come from real numbers and evidence, not just self-reported percentages?
- Is there a weekly check-in habit built in, or only quarterly updates?
- Can leadership see alignment from company goals down to individual work?
- Can you export everything, any time, in open formats?
How to move from Viva Goals
- Export your OKRs from Viva Goals to Excel or CSV, including child items (key results and initiatives).
- In Milestra, open Goals → Import and upload the file. Rows with a Type column are grouped automatically: objectives become goals, key results keep their start, current and target values, and initiatives become action steps.
- Review the preview — owners are matched by email or name, and anything that can't be matched is flagged rather than guessed.
- Confirm, invite your team, and run your first weekly check-in the same day.

Will my key-result progress carry over?
Yes. If your export includes start, current and target values, Milestra imports them, so progress percentages are preserved.
